Graeme Gourlay
Managing Director

Graeme has been running magazine and digital publishing businesses for more than 15 years. He founded DIVE magazine in 1995 and has since taken over Geographical magazine, Christian Aid News and The Environment Magazine. He has created successful websites, published a number of books and developed digital strategies for all our titles.
Before setting up his own publishing company he was Assistant Editor of the Sunday Times and had been News Editor of the Sunday Times and news and then features editor of The Mail on Sunday.
Simon Simmons
Executive Director

Simon has been involved publishing for 25 years and has embraced its transition from print to digital. He has been employed by the largest of publishers including Associated Newspapers and Metro International in senior operational roles. Throughout the last 25 years he has worked in most areas of a publication including editorial, circulation, distribution, printing, classified and display advertising. This varied experience gives him a unique view of how all parts of a publication company should work together to produce the best quality titles.
Prior to Syon Publishing Simon was Managing Director of DigitalSpace Marketing where he gained the expertise in fully maximising the digital revolution. His background of traditional publishing complimented by digital expertise is instrumental in ensuring Syon deliver world class publications across all media.
Sarah Bell
Commercial Manager

Sarah has a wealth of experience in B2B sales and marketing for publishers and SME’s, having worked in the area for more than seven years. Starting her career as a B2B Sales associate for an online news publisher, she then worked in Marketing for a private investment magazine and as a Marketing Communications Co-ordinator for an outsourced marketing firm, before relocating from Sydney to London after completing her university studies in Law and Journalism.
Sarah manages the advertising sales, business development and commercial strategy for Syon’s B2B clients and titles, and is a key part of the Senior Management team, working closely with the Directors to develop and implement strategy for the company. She will also be expanding the digital arm of our business.
Becca Macdonald
Art Director

Becca has worked as a graphic designer for the last 9 years. She oversees all titles produced by Syon Publishing and is Art Editor for Christian Aid News and WEM Magazine.
As well as magazine design, Becca has previously designed websites, newsletters, apps, brochures, advertisements, a cookbook; as well as artwork for exhibitions and company branding.
Geordie Torr
Editor at large - Geographical

Geordie was a biologist before switching to writing about wildlife instead of studying it. After working for several years as a staff writer on Australian Geographic and a short stint as the science editor of Newton magazine, he moved to the UK, where he is currently the editor of Geographical.
